Community Investment Survey

The Port Stanley Community Investment Survey was designed to gather feedback from local residents on how the municipality should invest in the future. Areas of focus included infrastructure, local transportation, and community features. This survey provided residents the opportunity to share their priorities and ideas, with the goal of shaping future developments in Port Stanley.

Why Your Feedback Mattered

Resident input was vital to guiding future investments in Port Stanley. Some recent community improvements included projects like the construction of the Visitor’s Centre, the Main Beach roundabout enhancements, and the building of Hofhuis Park. The survey asked for thoughts on what investments should come next to improve the quality of life in the village for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

What Happened Next

Once the survey responses were collected, they were carefully reviewed and categorized using both keyword clustering and thematic analysis to identify key investment priorities. Residents expressed significant interest in a variety of areas, including infrastructure improvements (like facilities and traffic flow), enhancements to recreational spaces (such as a bandshell and outdoor spaces), and a focus on public safety (like beach and road safety).

After the initial survey, a second follow-up survey was launched to allow the community to vote on specific project themes that emerged from the feedback. This ensured that the final investment decisions reflected the most important priorities for residents.

Next Steps

The survey results were shared during a public presentation at the Member Meeting on October 24 at the Port Stanley Legion. At this meeting, residents had the opportunity to see how their feedback directly shaped investment priorities and to discuss next steps for the community’s development.

Key Initiatives Identified:

  1. Improve Facilities at Little Beach: 151 Responses
  2. Improved geese population management & clean up: 134 Responses
  3. Preserve the Downtown Core & Harbour Area: 129 Responses
  4. Implement Main Beach no swimming area: 125 Responses
  5. Build outside bandshell: 122 Responses

By participating, residents helped shape Port Stanley’s future, ensuring that investments reflect the needs and desires of the entire community. The insights from this survey will help make Port Stanley an even better place to live, work, and visit. Thank you for your engagement in building a stronger, thriving Port Stanley!
